Macau, 1990:

People who get bored in Hongkong simply board a hydrofoil at the HK pier and go to this, once, Portuguese (again!) colony until they were handed over to China at the start of year 2000. Macau is a place that's more unique and probably, deeper in heritage than HK - maybe because of the Portuguese (hence, it may probably have a tinge of Brazil's samba/fun/carefree and laid-back style since it was also a former very important colony of Portugal) influence.

Casinos and other popular forms of games of chances like horse racing, dog racing jai-alai, etc, are legal and the world-famous, Macau Grand Prix is held here occasionally. Although, just slightly smaller than HK, most Hongkongites go here more often than any other fun spots in their own turf - given the love of the games of chance by the Chinese!

We also visited a typical Chinese commune (with plenty of Peking ducks!) where most people seem to live in quiet, simple ways. Bicycles (pic# 4) were everywhere -which I really liked- adding to the rustic feeling of the place!
